Training course in addressing new agricultural challenges through management and marketing tools

Farmers are in charge of their estate. Their activities are defined by the relationship between the individual and his social, economical, cultural and political environment. In addition to growing, transforming and marketing their products, cultivators have to run their estate on a global level: they take decisions regarding the conception, the implementation, the adaptation and the regulation of the running of the farm. Furthermore, they have a growing part to play in land use and natural resources management. A farmer is in charge of conceiving a development plan and makes decisions regarding the way his estate works. He also manages the human and social aspects of his profession.

Module 1: Promotion

  • Define what type of promotion should be adopted according to the product
  • Get to know the marketing channels best suited to each type of promotion
  • Be able to surprise the customer
  • Optimise results

  • Keep promotional actions in line with the overall strategy

Module 2: Contributive margin

  • Know the contribution of a product to global profitability
  • Know the selling structure of the products and make it evolve

Module 3: Marketing related to food industry

  • Devise a marketing strategy
  • Implement the marketing strategy
  • Market agricultural products
  • Use modern channels of distribution
  • Know the role that distribution plays in economy

Module 4: Food products

  • Present a survey on agriculture and food products in Mali and Senegal;
  • Provide tools to understand current agricultural challenges and the role of food products.
